India

India produces and exports both Arabica as well as Robusta coffee with a production, varying year by year, of between 4,5 and 5 million bags.

Indian Arabicas are sub-categorized into Washed: Plantation (A,B,C,Blacks,Bits) and Natural coffees: Cherry (PB,AB,C,Blacks etc.)

Robustas are as well divided into Washed Coffees: namely Parchment (PB,AB,C) and Natural Coffees: namely Cherry (PB,AB,C,Blacks).

Apart from the aforementioned classic Arabicas and Robustas, India exports certain specially prepared coffees, named Specialty Coffees. These special coffees have screening or cupping characteristics that deviate from the standard classifications. The most known are Mysore Nuggets EB a washed Arabica coffee, and the Robusta Kaapi Royale, prepared with a Robusta Parchment AB coffee.

Among the above mentioned specialty coffees are also the Monsooned coffees, named after the typical Indian torrential rains, mainly because of the prolonged exposition to high levels of humidity as a result of its storage into particular side-open warehouses, and its exposition to Monsooned winds after being bagged.
