Brazil

Brazil, the first absolute coffee producing and exporting country in the world, produces primarily Arabica coffee with an important expanding production of Robusta, named also Conilon.
Brazilian coffee is usually harvested through the "stripping" method, whereas some plantations use the automatized method applied through modern machinery similar to those used for olive harvesting.
Most of the Brazilian coffee is treated through the “dry” method, the semi-washed processing is called "cereja descascado".

Brazilian coffees are known in the international market for being called by the names of their corresponding areas of origin or production; the fine Arabicas in particular are named after the sea port of Santos which as far as coffee is concerned it is the most important in the world.

Apart from Santos, a widely known Brazilian quality of coffee is named Rio, which refers to a particularly flavored quality produced not only in the state of Rio, but also in a region called Zona de Mata of the state of Minas Gerais or Espirito Santo.

People familiar with the industry, sometimes even mention the pertaining botanical species (Caffè Bourbon or Caturra) or even the geographical production area of the coffee (Alta Mogiana, Cerrado, Alta Paulista, Guaxupè, Monte Carmelo etc.).

Further to the above mentioned denominations, fantasy names referring to specific plantations or areas, along with private brands marketed by various exporters are not uncommon.

Brazilian classification is considered the most complete, and takes account of all the descriptive aspects of a specific lot both from a visual and olfactory as well as flavor point of view.

Below listed are some coffees we market, which have been well appreciated by our clientele.

Brazilian Coffees
  • SANTOS ARC SELECTO

The semi-washing system or “cereja descascado” gives the coffee a highly rounded shape and ensures an excellent uniformity in the roasting.

  • BOURBON AMARELO

Particular botanical variety characterized by the pale yellowish color of its drupe once completely mature. Very sweet coffee which is also appropriate to be used as a mono-origin.

  • SANTOS ALPHA

Quality historically marketed by ARC since many years. It is a coffee characterized by a good body and low acidity ideal as a base coffee for espresso blends.

  • SANTOS ARC 5 ESTRELLAS

Coffee produced in the Cerrado area, characterized by its fine acidity and light body.

  • SANTOS DELIZIA

A novelty introduced by ARC in 2012. It is a blend of coffees originating from Alta Mogiana and Cerrado, purposely studied by our tasters to be used in espresso blends where a medium body and fine acidity are required.
